This narrative poetry revolves around a teenage girl working as a maid at a British officer’s house in Himalayan city of Simla, the summer capital of pre-independent India. The poem effortlessly portrays the hardships faced by women during British rule and their abilities to fight back strongly. The book contains a poetic form of one such event of the early 20th century and a priceless collection of poems of hope, happiness, beauty and the land of mystics. Bhannu Arora spent many years in Shimla and writes out of his personal experiences during his course of travel and association with the natives.
